Tohoku Solo Trip 2016 東北一人の旅 - Day 1 Itinerary: Sendai 仙台市

Conclusion. Embarked on my second visit to Tohoku, but this time doing it alone. Before departure, one colleague after hearing that I was going away on a solo trip made the comment that I will start to feel lonely by the third day or so. Did have some reservations and uncertainty then. At the end of this trip, I am glad that this loneliness did not set in at all. Despite some misses (which is indispensable with every trip), I am fortunate to have the company of beautiful surroundings and helpful people throughout this 13 day journey in Tohoku.

Exchanged for 14 days Japan Rail Pass at Narita Airport JR Service Center.

* Unfortunately, there was an electrical fault on Narita Express, which was also my first encounter of train related issue in Japan. Original plan was to board Narita Express to Tokyo JR Station and transfer to Tohoku Shinkansen from there. As there was no outlook on when Narita Express could resume operation, I hopped onto Keisei Skyliner (have to pay an additional fare since JR Pass could not be utilised) and alighted at Ueno JR Station to transfer to Tohoku Shinkansen instead.

Purchased ticket for FruiTea Fukushima Train (フルーティアふくしま ) departing from Koriyama to Aizu Wakamatsu on 22.05.2016 (Sun) at Ueno JR Station View Plaza (びゅうプラザ).
